Wilbur T. Bitting

Wilbur Todd Bitting, 63, passed away on Sunday January 7, 2024, at his home in Des Moines. A visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until the time of his service. A memorial service will be at 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2024 at Simplify Cremation & Funerals followed by a reception at the American Legion Hall.

Wilbur was born on March 26, 1960, in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Sophie and Pete Bitting. He was the youngest of 11 children. He grew up in Des Moines, going to high school at East and working hard in the areas of carpentry. Wilbur had 2 children, Neil and Todd. Wilbur loved animals and was devoted to his dog Wiley. You could always find Wilbur tinkering in the garage and he could fix anything. Wilbur loved racing and anything to do with cars. Wilbur was the best guy to be around. He had a keen sense of humor and could make everyone laugh. Wilbur also had a side to him like a gentle giant and would give you the shirt off his back. Wilbur had a knack for making you feel protected, he was a great person to know if you had a problem. Wilbur will be greatly missed by all who love him.

Wilbur is survived by his sons, Neil (Deann) Bitting, Todd (Sara) Bitting; grandchildren: Payton, Clint, Nick, Nathan, Eliana, Kristin, Nick, Kennedy, Bradley, siblings, Jerry (Linda) Bitting, Joe (Chrys) Bitting, and Cyndi (Neil) Conner; partner Stephanie Dellacalake. Wilbur was preceded in death and joins his parents Pete and Sophie Bitting, siblings Beverly (Albert) Brandt, Floyd (Ruth) Bitting, Marilyn Bitting, Shirley (Don) Clark, Pete (Deloris) Bitting, Ted (Patti) Bitting, and Linda Bitting.
