Wardell Diggs

Dr. Wardell Diggs, 85, passed away peacefully September 30, 2025 in Des Moines, Iowa. A celebration of life visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 at Simplify Cremations and Funerals Chapel, 4821 SW 9th Street in Des Moines.

Wardell was born October 1, 1939 the son of Peter and Lena Diggs in Yazoo, Mississippi. He earned a Doctorate Degree from the University of Iowa in Psychology. Wardell enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading, jogging/walking, basketball, football, traveling, camping, old black and white movies and various kinds of music.

Wardell is survived by his daughter, Tamera Lynette (Donald) Diggs-Tate, grandchildren, Kolby and Breyawnnie; step grandchildren, Autumn and Jheris; step great grandchildren, Charles, Zoee, Kordell, Aniyah, Avayah, Anthony Jr. and Amani; longtime companion, Ogeretta Branch; siblings, Lawrence Diggs and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Stephanie Luanne and husband Roderick; and his brothers, Tyree, Peter Howard II, and Otha and his sisters, Lincoln, Dorothy, Frances and Algean. He will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
