Thomas Wayne Robbins

Thomas W. Robbins, 77, of Des Moines, IA, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Veteran Affairs Hospital in Des Moines. A visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Temple in Altoona, IA with a 8:00 p.m. Masonic service. A graveside service will be 12:30 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, IA. Tom was born June 17, 1947 to Clova and Ruth (Morrow) Robbins in Cincinnati, IA. After completing school he joined the United States Army serving from 1966 to 1968. He was married to Sheila Armstrong and to this marriage they were blessed with two children. They later divorced. Tom married Karol Lee Bosworth and they were blessed with numerous years together before she passed away in 2013. Tom worked several years in the sign business. He owned his own business named Sign Works. In addition he owned and operated the Dinner Bell at the Iowa State Fair for 27 years. Tom became a Mason at Acanthus Lodge No. 632 on April 28, 1997. He held office as Master in 2003. He was also a member of the East Gate Lodge No. 630. Tom was an avid dedicated Shriner and was elected Zi-Ga-Zig Potentate in 2007. During retirement Tom enjoyed Shriner events, golfing and boating. In the last numerous years he spent his time with his wife and friends. His friendship, guidance and loyalty will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Robbins of Des Moines, two children, Thomas Robbins of Des Moines, Rusti Robinson of Ankeny, IA, grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister Rita Gentile, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Karol Robbins, parents and two sisters, Sharon Green and Patricia Kurtz.
