Tom was born on April 10, 1968, in Greenfield, Iowa, and graduated from Greenfield High School. He then attended the University of Iowa. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of faith whose life reflected a deep commitment to God, family, and service to others. A steady presence in every season, Tom was someone others leaned on for wisdom, encouragement, and reassurance.
On October 21, 1995, Tom married the love of his life, Kristen Kay Langguth, in West Des Moines, Iowa. Together they built a life rooted in faith, perseverance, and love, raising their family with Christian values and a strong work ethic. Known for his enthusiasm and generous spirit, Tom had a way of making people feel seen and valued. His faith guided his life and was evident in the way he loved, served, and forgave.
Tom was a proud and loving father to David (Halie) Reis, Jacob (Skylar) Reis, Julia Reis, Kayla Reis, and Samantha Reis, and a new grandfather to Roman Reis, whom he cherished deeply. Time spent with his growing family was among his greatest joys.
He is survived by his wife, Kristen; his mother, Virginia; his brothers, Rodney (Kathie), Randall (Joan), Timothy (Kelley), and Douglas (Amy) Reis; his mother-in-law, Jane Langguth; his brothers-in-law, Brad (Nancy) and Mark (Kristen) Langguth; and his sister-in-law, Lisa (Douglas) Friedrichsen, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Reis, and his father-in-law, Fritz Langguth.
Tom dedicated his professional life to Primerica, a financial services company, where he built and led many thriving offices. Through hard work, integrity, and mentorship, he helped countless families pursue financial security and opportunity. One of his greatest professional joys was the privilege of working alongside his three oldest children, leaving a legacy not only of business success, but of faith, leadership, and inspiration.
Tom will be remembered for his reliability, outgoing laugh, generous heart, and the way he saw the goodness in others. He believed deeply in serving others, living with purpose, and honoring Christ in both word and deed. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the time we shared with him and for the countless ways he enriched our lives. While Tom's earthly journey has ended, his eternal life has begun, and his family finds comfort in the promise of Scripture: "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:23).
