Susan Kay Tibben

1957 - 2023

Susan "Sue" Tibben, age 66, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on August 25, 2023. She was born on August 21, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Jimmie and Darlene Herweh. She grew up and lived in Mitchellville, Iowa for most of her life.

Sue was a devoted grandmother to her six grandsons. She cherished spending time with them and attending their events. Known for her kindness and generosity, Sue always put others before herself. She was known as "mom" by many of her children's friends. She loved them like they were her own children, often telling stories and bragging about their accomplishments. She had a deep love for animals and nature. She delighted in making holidays special for her family.

In her professional life, Sue had a diverse career. She worked many jobs, but her favorite was being a School Bus Driver. She considered the children she transported a part of her family and she loved all of them.

Outside of work, Sue enjoyed various hobbies. She found great joy in sharing those hobbies with her grandsons. She had a passion for reading, cooking, and baking. She also enjoyed playing pool, bowling, and crocheting.

Sue is survived by her son, Jimmy (Jennifer) Tibben of Newton, Iowa, and her daughter, Katelynn (Mark) Lane of Altoona. She also leaves behind her six beloved grandsons, Noah Tibben, Jonah Tibben, Micah Tibben, Michael Pohlmeier, Gabriel Pohlmeier, and Zachary Pohlmeier.

A memorial service will be held in Sue's honor at the Mitchellville Community Center in Mitchellville, Iowa, on Monday, September 4th, from 1pm to 5pm.

Sue will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to those whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, memorials will go to family for future choice of donation
