Sherri Goodvoiceflute

November 30, 1966 — December 4, 2024

Sherri LaVonne GoodVoiceFlute (58) passed away on December 4th, 2024, at Kavanaugh Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa after battling small cell lung cancer for 14 months. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, starting at 10:00am with a funeral service at 11:00am. Intermet will follow and be at Highland Memory Gardens (1 NE 60th Ave, Des Moines, Iowa, 50313).

Sherri LaVonne Chipp was born to Larry Chipp and Lois Waltz on November 30th, 1966 in Des Moines, Iowa. Growing up she moved to many parts of Des Moines with her mother and younger siblings. She enjoyed telling stories to her daughters later in life about dad's adventures when she and her siblings were younger for example dirt bike riding and boating on the Chipps Ahoy. She would enjoy her getaway weekends with Aunt Barbara as these were the stories that always made her smile.

Later in life, Sherri met Lenny GoodVoiceFlute and in 1992 the two began their lives together. Though they would later divorce, from this union two beautiful daughters were born; Sierra LaVonne GoodVoiceFlute and ShyAnn Mary GoodVoiceFlute. Sherri was a very protective parent and she loved to give even if she didn't always have the means to. She always did her best with what she had available. She showed her daughters the importance of keeping the deceased alive by visiting her mother's gravesite every chance she got. She was a very devoted daughter to both parents. As a family we would often go on family trips to visit other family members in different states like South Dakota and Colorado. She was most excited about being able to visit Florida and visiting Disneyworld. We made a lot of memories on these trips and will miss them greatly. To be able to provide for this life she was a very hardworking person and spent 18 years at Dollar General even when she didn't always enjoy it. Though, later she finally found a job that better suited her and wasn't so taxing on her body. Bomgaars, a family tractor supply company was very kind to her in her last months working retail. She always expressed her love for the job and how she was excited to come back after treatment, she was treated like family there.

On December 4th, 2024, Sherri stepped from time into eternity. In death, Sherri rejoins her mother, father, aunt Barbara, nephew Tony Chipp, amongst grandparents and many other family members.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sierra GoodVoiceFlute (Jordan Ferron), and ShyAnn GoodVoiceFlute; stepmother Elizabeth Chipp, brothers Jim Chipp (Theresa Chipp), Larry Chipp, Shawn Chipp (Amanda Chipp), Andrew Chipp (Shan Chipp), sister Jennifer Routh; father to her two children Lenny GoodVoiceFlute, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and distant relatives.
