Shawn Sport - a devoted husband, father and friend- unexpectedly passed away at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa on December 1, 2022 at the age of 40.
Shawn was born to Michael Sport and Cheryl Isaacson in Kansas City, Missouri on September 06, 1982. Shawn was adopted by his grandparents Robert and Reva Sport.
Shawn graduated from Eldon High School in 2001, where he played football and was involved in several clubs. Shawn also had a passion for showing horses while in high school.
Shawn graduated from Midwest College of Theology with an Associate's Degree in Biblical studies. Shawn began his prominent business career at Walmart starting as a Stockman and advancing into Management. This helped to prepare him for his distinguished career at Casey's General Store. Shawn worked his way from a Store Manager in Eldon, Mo, to District Supervisor in the Branson, Mo area, to Regional Director of the South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa area.
Shawn was a light that shone brightly in many lives. He had a love of Jesus, and a heart for young people that led him to be a Youth Pastor at New Life Assembly of God in Eldon, Mo and Mitchell Assembly of God in Mitchell, South Dakota. Shawn was also a Youth Sponsor at Faith Baptist Church in Eldon, Mo and Riverview Baptist Church in Forsyth, Mo.
Shawn always had a sermon to give, a joke to tell, and a new kid to love. He accepted everyone for who they were and where they were in life. He believed anyone could make a difference and everyone was family. Shawn was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He would never miss a game if he could help it, and enjoyed attending the games. Shawn kept a cup from every game with the names of the people that went, and when the game was, because each and every attendance was that special to him. He loved sharing his love of the game with anyone who was willing. When Shawn wasn't working, he was home spending time with his family and friends. He was the king of games and always had a new one to play. He would get onto you for being on your phone while playing a game because that was a special time to be spending with those around you.
Shawn worked hard to provide a life for his wife and children, whom he was very proud of. Shawn and Melissa were a team and balanced each other's strengths and weaknesses when it came to raising the children and in life.
Shawn is survived by his wife, Melissa Sport and their four children Ashley, Megan, Eli and Baby Turnip on the way; Siblings, Matthew Jones (Tiffany), Josh Sport (Nichole), Michael Sport (Charlotte), April Sport (Connor Keefe), Walker Sport (Katie Langford); Grandmother/Mother, Reva "Joyce" Sport; and many nieces and nephews.
