Sharon Kay Sells, 80, of Des Moines died August 11, 2023, at her home. Sharon worked in the food industry for many years and retired from employment with The Salvation Army in 2008. She was a long-time member of the Salvation Army Temple Corps and most recently attended the Well Covenant Church in Des Moines. She loved to crochet, especially baby blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and dresses for porcelain dolls. She also enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music, making chocolate candies during the Christmas season, cooking, doing puzzles and spending time with her family and friends.
Born March 18, 1943, in Ft. Dodge, IA., she was the daughter of the late Milton and Edith Marcella (Bockoven) Paterson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years; Michael D. Sells Sr., two sisters; Joyce Craig and Marlys Friedel, one brother; Ray Paterson, two infant children; Theodore and Thomas Osborne and one grandchild; Kolbe Sells.
She is survived by eight children: Janet (Charles) Samuelson of Atlanta, TX, Raymond (Stefanie) Osborne of Pensacola, FL, Mark (Vicki) Osborne of Colorado Springs, CO, Ada Potts of Des Moines, IA, Mike (Chris) Sells of Des Moines, IA, Heather (Chris) Salcedo of Phoenix, AZ, Randee (Mike) Wirth of Des Moines, IA, and Heath (Antia) Sells of Peoria, IL.; a sister: Sylvia Osborne of Ft. Dodge, IA; 15 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and several friends.
A funeral service will be held at 6 pm Thursday, August 17, at the Well Covenant Church officiated by Pastor Marc Peterson. A private burial will take placed at a later date at the Ft. Dodge memorial Park Cemetery.
