Sandy Olechnovics

Sandy Olechnovics passed away on February 19, 2024 at UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones.

Sandy was born in Bad Aibling, Germany to Irene and Alex Olechnovics on September 13, 1950. The family settled on Des Moines' south side where Sandy enjoyed playing softball and making lifelong friends. Sandy graduated from Lincoln High School.

Sandy worked for the city of Des Moines and in real estate. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sports, cars and Prairie Meadows. Sandy was a kind, caring and generous person who was always eager to help others, putting others ahead of himself.

Sandy will be lovingly remembered by his children, Brad (Rachelle) Olechnovics, Mike Olechnovics and MacKinzie Olechnovics; sister, Carmen Dow as well as several nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
