Sandra Lynn Biondi

Sandra "Sandy" Lynn Biondi, 58, of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on July 19, 2026.

Sandy was born on May 18, 1968, in Ames, Iowa, to Mark and Linda Handsaker. Her proudest accomplishment was raising her daughters, Jessica and Kayla. She dedicated her life to being their mother, and relished watching her daughters become mothers to her five beautiful grandchildren, whom she doted on and adored fiercely. She loved spending time with her beloved dog, Jasper, cooking meals for those she loved, listening to music, attending concerts, and crafting.

To know her was to know someone who was truly one of a kind. She lived life on her own terms-unapologetically herself. She was sassy, stubborn, strong-willed, and incredibly determined. She never hesitated to speak her mind, stood firm in what she believed, and faced life's challenges with remarkable resilience. While she could be feisty, those who knew her best also knew the depth of her heart.

Above all else, she brought the party with her everywhere she went, whether it be bringing an unmatched, infectious energy to every family gathering, being the 'fun aunt' who always knew how to break the rules in the best possible way, the ringleader of sibling mischief, or the friend who was always up for an adventure, Sandy was the person who could always be counted on to make memories you'd cherish forever.

She is survived by her daughters; Jessica Russell (Mathew) and Kayla Biondi; her five grandchildren, Mason, Clara, Lennox, Roman, and Mila; her parents, Mark and Linda Handsaker; her siblings, Marcia Leingang (Richard), Diana Conkel (Brian), Shawn Handsaker (Marie), and Carrie Fetters (Todd).

Though our hearts are broken, we will carry her spirit with us every day. We will remember her laughter, her stubborn determination, her unmistakable sass, and the immense love she gave so freely. She was deeply loved, and she will be profoundly missed.
