Russell W. Smith, 53, of Des Moines, IA, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023 in Winterset, IA. A visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., November 10, 2023 at Simplify Cremations & Funerals. Russell was born on August 8, 1970 to Merle and Linda (Marchant) Smith. He obtained his GED from Des Moines Area Community College. He was a man with many trades but he truly enjoyed sitting in the driver's seat as a truck driver. You could always find Russell enjoying fishing, camping, boating, and motorcycle riding. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his two children, Shawn and Racheal Knapp, step daughter, Kourtney Knapp four sisters: Amy (Barry), Laurie, JoAnn, Joyce, one brother, Dennis (Rochelle), and six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
