Roy Wayne Briggs, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep at home after his battle with lung cancer at the age of 82. A celebration of life will be held at the Williamson Community Center in Williamson, Iowa from 1:00 to 5:00 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
Jr. was born March 19, 1942 at Tiffery Farmhouse to Roy and Louise Briggs. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1960. Jr. married Paulette Winters on April 4, 1963. The couple welcomed two sons, Jeffery and Todd and they were born and raised in Chariton and graduated from Chariton High School. They remember Jr. as a kind and loving father who never knew a stranger when they came to the home. Everyone was welcome. Jr. was passionate about wood working and often indulged in projects in his basement in his spare time. His family was everything to him. Jr. was very close to his brother, Gene both growing up and as adults. He worked 25+ years with Gene at E.E. Briggs Sodding Company until he retired.
Jr. is survived by his sons, Jeff Briggs and Todd "Charlie" (Susanne) Briggs both of Des Moines; grandchildren, Amanda Kline, Kayla Kline, Josh Kline, and Alaina Briggs great grandchild, Everlyn Armel and his sisters, Sandra Shriver and Carol Forst both of Williamson. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Paulette; parents, Roy and Louise Briggs, siblings, Marilyn Briggs, Geneive Maassen, Darlene Mundy, Reta Chiri, Edward "Gene" Briggs and Larry Briggs.
