Roselyn Marie Harbart

Roselyn Marie Harbart was born in St Louis Mo. on October 6, 1942. She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in June of 1960, in St. Louis. She was a very smart and well-read lady who loved books on all topics. Her biggest interests were history and the arts, and she was a good dancer who loved ballet. She also loved classical music and Lawrence Welk. She had a great love for animals, particularly dogs and horses, but also a soft place for birds, opossums, and all wild animals. She was a talented seamstress who sewed prom dresses, wedding dresses, and bridesmaid dresses for friends and family.

In 1965, she graduated with a B.A. in History from Elmhurst University in Elmhurst Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. She later earned her teaching degree at The University of Missouri. Her teaching career stared out in Alden, Iowa, then she later taught at Hubbard, Adel, Johnston, and at St. Augustin School, where she directed plays and musicals. Roselyn received the Golden Apple Award in 2000 while at St. Augustin School, teaching her junior high students.

Roselyn was also a communication instructor at DMACC in Ankeny, and she edited the college's literary publication of The Skunk River Review. She was involved in part-time, local church ministry and enjoyed hobbies of flower and vegetable gardening, herbal cooking, and decorating for the holidays.

Roselyn passed away on July 13th 2026 with the love and support of Skilled Nursing Care at Bishop Drumm and St. Croix Hospice. She is survived by her son, Jon-Martin Harbart, daughter-in-law Abbey, her grandson Beau Martin, her daughter Shelaine Harbart, son-in-law Richard Way, and Roselyn's long time best friend since high school, Janice Boyanchek.
