Rory Dee Guess

Rory Dee Guess, 69, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on July 24, 2026 after a battle with lung cancer.

Rory was born on September 20, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa, raised by Buster and Rosemarie Rounds. He attended Lincoln High School and later worked as a painter for many years. Rory spent many years fishing and boating on the Des Moines River. He loved attending his grandkids and great grandkids sporting events. He was their biggest fan! Rory enjoyed hunting, gardening and trips to the Farmer's Market. He was an avid Women's Basketball and an Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Rory leaves behind his son, Ryan Guess and daughter, Codi Snowgren (Trevor Hoffman); grandchildren, Kaleb Lapman, Makayla and Kyle Snowgren and great grandchildren, Maxwell Snowgren and Lachlan Snowgren; sister, Geri Wallace and brother, Buster Rounds, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Darla Guess, his parents, brother, Lewis and brothers-in-law, Doug Stalter and Mike Theis and sister-in-law, LeAnn Theis.

Rory's family will remember him for the life he lived and the love he shared with those closest to him. His memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
