Ronald Eugene Snook, age 71, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on February 8, 2026, in Des Moines, where he had made his home for more than 40 years.

Ronald was born on May 18, 1954, in Ottumwa, Iowa to Charles Lee and Zenith Ruth (Parks) Snook. He grew up in Eldon and spent many memorable evenings throughout his life with friends and family in the Eldon, Iowa area-times that were filled with laughter, stories, and lasting connections.

A skilled and dedicated tradesman, Ronald had an exceptional talent for cement masonry. His hard work and craftsmanship helped shape the Des Moines skyline, including his involvement in the construction of notable landmarks such as the Principal Building. Later in life, Ronald found great joy and purpose driving a school bus. He formed countless meaningful friendships with the drivers and children he transported each day and was known for his kindness, reliability, and familiar presence.

Ronald loved being outdoors and embraced Iowa life to the fullest. He enjoyed boating and fishing whenever he could on the Des Moines River with his friends. He was especially renowned for his mushroom hunting skills. With countless secret spots known only to him, it was a passion he guarded closely and took great pride in. A devoted sports fan, Ronald could always be found cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also had a deep appreciation for country and bluegrass music, which often provided the soundtrack to his quieter moments.

Ronald will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, love of the outdoors, and the many lives he cared deeply about. His legacy lives on in the many friendships he built, the structures he helped create, and the memories shared by those who knew and loved him.

Ronald is survived by his son, Joseph Snook; grandchildren, Madonna; Carrigayn, Andrew and Anthony, who he loved unconditionally.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
