Ronald Glee Grant

Ronald "Ron" Grant, 71, the son of Leslie Grant and Viola (Gathercole) Grant was born on October 12, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Ankeny, Iowa and graduated from Ankeny High School in 1970. In 1978 Ron was united in marriage with Cindy Kay Jessen in Cedar Falls, Iowa. They would raise their family in Ankeny, Iowa. Ron worked as a Bakery Manager at Hy-Vee for many years before pursuing other opportunities until he retired in 2015. In 2016 he worked part-time doing early morning stock at Menards to get himself up and going each day.

Ron was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. He took pleasure in using his smoker to prepare various meals for his family.  He was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Royals. Throughout his life he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play various sports. He obsessed over maintaining a beautiful lawn. He loved listening to music especially rock n roll oldies and watching his favorite movies. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and having a cold Budweiser.

Ron passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at home. He was surrounded by his family and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Bob Grant, Connie Werle, Carolyn Ocheltree and Kenneth Grant.

Those left to honor Ron's memory include his wife, Cindy, his children, Patrick (Jeanna) Grant, Sean Grant, Dawn (Brett) Adams, Cory Grant and Bret Grant; Sister Colleen Lynn and Brother Gary (Kathy) Grant; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life service held at The Lakeside Center, 400 NW Lakeshore Dr. Ankeny, Iowa 50023 on Saturday, January 21, 2023. Service will start at 11:00 AM and lunch will be provided at 12:00 PM.
