Rodney Lee Idso

Rodney Lee Idso, 65, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 after a brief battle with Mesothelioma. Rod was born July 5, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa.  He was a graduate of Hoover High School.

Rod spent most of his early life in the Des Moines area. He then moved to Phoenix, Arizona with Elaine for 10 years before coming back to Iowa to be closer to their families. Rod enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He spent his years doing many things that made him happy including buying and selling cars, managing a concession business, driving a school bus, traveling and cheering on Da Bears. He was a master of the grill with a specialty of making pancakes for his kids and then grandkids.

Rod will be missed by many including his pup Bear. Rod is survived by his wife Elaine; sister Candi Johnson; daughters Missy (Jon) Berg of West Des Moines, Iowa and Mandy (Mike) White of Ankeny, Iowa; grandkids Asher, Harrison, Ayla, Kelvin, Kennedy and Brynn; As well as Elaine's sons Eric (Shannon) Fritz, Matt Fritz and Dave (Emily) Fritz. And her grandkids Carly, Lidia and Ella.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elaine and Chester Idso and his son Bryan Idso.
