Bob Lasnek, born on March 22, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois to Steven Lasnek and Elenore Humbert, passed away on July 2, 2024, at the age of 89. Raised in Chicago, Bob attended an all-boys school where he developed a strong foundation in academics and character. His upbringing in the bustling city instilled in him a resilient and driven nature.
Bob's love for sports led him to become a dedicated coach for youth and high school hockey teams, where he imparted the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship to young athletes. His commitment to the community extended to coaching adult softball teams, where his leadership and enthusiasm created a lasting impact.
After retiring from a successful career at Westinghouse at 55, Bob embarked on a new entrepreneurial journey by founding Alasto Specialty Coatings. His vision and hard work made the company a respected name in the industry. Bob's ability to reinvent himself and pursue new ventures even in retirement was a testament to his relentless drive and innovative spirit. His influence will be remembered in the sports community and the business world, where his entrepreneurial legacy continues to inspire.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Steven; his mother, Elenore; his first wife, Carol Lasnek; his daughter Candis Ditmore; his son-in-law, Greg Moore; his son-in-law, Andy Enos; and his grandson, AJ Betts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Katherine "Kathy" Lasnek; his children: Sheila (Greg) Moore, Bob (Becky) Lasnek, Mark (Josie) Lasnek, Donna (Andy) Enos, David (Stacey), Camelle (Roscoe) Lewis, and Christin (RJ) Erwin; Grandchildren: Joshua (Jenna) Moore, Jeremiah (Sheryl) Moore, Cameron Vest, Clay Vest, Ryan Ballard, Jerad Enos, Jade (Kelly) Slaugh, AJ (Amy) Enos, Spencer Lasnek, Hunter Lasnek, Lynn Lewis, Roscoe Lewis Jr, Stephen Lewis, Alistair Lewis, Chiara Lewis, and Royce Erwin; and his Great-grandchildren: Alexis Betts, Aaliyah Moore, Jackson Moore, Xander Moore, Michael Lasnek, Mackenzie Lasnek, Morgan Lasnek, Logan Armstrong-Enos, Dillon Enos, Damien Enos, Charlie Enos, and Ayla Enos.
Bob's legacy of love, dedication, and achievement will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and community. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 9:00 AM, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Dinner will be served after Mass.
