Robert Daniels

March 2, 1959 — December 30, 2024

Robert (Bob) Michael Daniels, age 65, passed away in his home on December 30, 2024. A visitation to remember Bob's life and spirit will take place on January 10, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Simplify Cremations and Funerals, 4821 SW 9th Street in Des Moines.

Bob was born to Laurette Ramsey and Gerald Daniels on March 2, 1959, and grew up in Des Moines. After graduating from Des Moines Technical High School, Bob served his country with the Iowa Air National Guard. Bob worked most of his life as an electrician, but his true passion was his hobbies. The words free spirit aren't enough to capture Bob's outlook on life. He was a guy who was fiercely unapologetic and didn't care what others thought. He beat to his own drum and lived a life many can't imagine. Bob was always the life of the party, the king jokester.

Whether we were at a family gathering or even a funeral, he was always making people laugh, especially at the most inappropriate times. It was his specialty, and his humor will be missed by so many of his friends and family. Did you know boobytrap spelled backward is partyboob? (one of his favorites).

Bob felt the most free while jumping out of perfectly good airplanes at Skydive Iowa and Skydive Arizona. As he got older, Bob stopped jumping out of those planes and found a passion for fractal burning and resin art. You could typically find him in his garage making some kind of walking stick, clock, or other random artwork for family and friends. To friends and family, he was crazy Bob, Ricky Boobie, daddy-o, or just Bob. He loved his

family, in his own words, so hard, and was never afraid to tell them. When his long-lost daughter found our family in 2017, it was everything to him. He was so happy and welcoming to get to know another piece of the family and welcomed her with open arms. And of course, he made sure to sing "papa was a Rollin Stone" whenever he could. When his best friend, Steve Kennedy passed away in 2023 he didn't hesitate to adopt his beloved cat, Carl, now affectionately known as Carl-Steve-Bob. He called his momma every week, on Sunday, to check in and see how she was or how things went during the week. He loved his family so much.

Bob is survived by his children, Christina (Eric) Beach, Jason Daniels, and Heather (Adam) Gass; his mother Laurette (David) Johnson and stepmother Nancy Daniels; Three sisters, Cheryl Butler, Pam (Eric) Meyers and Carol Johnson; A brother, Randy Daniels; several nieces and nephews. His granddaughters, Mythren, Lilou, Kora, and Brook; grandsons Owen and Joey and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald, a daughter, Monica, and his best friend Steve Kennedy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Bob as the funny, kind, inappropriate person he truly was. Raise a glass and tell an inappropriate joke or story in his honor.
