Robert Eugene Cole Sr

Nov 13, 1952 — Oct 3, 2026

In Loving Memory of Robert Eugene "Bob" Cole Sr.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Eugene "Bob" Cole Sr., age 73, of Des Moines, Iowa, who departed this life unexpectedly on October 3, 2026, at his place of abode.

Robert was born on November 13, 1952, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to his late parents, Ophelia Cole and Loyd Cole. Robert attended Alliance High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1970. He later married the love of his life, the late Nadine Griffin, on January 27, 1997, in Des Moines, Iowa. Together, they shared many years of memories and family life.

Robert dedicated many years of his working life to Amtrak, where he was employed until an injury led him to take early retirement in 2015.

Those who knew Robert knew there was never a dull moment when Bob was around. He was known for his humorous personality, quick wit, and ability to make people laugh. He had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, enjoyed talking about politics, loved watching old Western movies, and had a strong interest in guns. But above all of his interests and hobbies, Robert's greatest love was his family and his true friends.

Robert was a man who valued the people closest to him. He created memories that will be treasured for generations, and his presence will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved him.

Robert leaves behind a beautiful family legacy.

He is survived by his children: DeShawn Houston-Cole, Robert Cole Jr., Ted Jedlicka, Tami Tessman, LaNina Cole, and Corey Chandler; 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Donnie Cole, Jessaline Anderson, Jessie Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Mary Anderson, Stephanie Anderson, Forrest Anderson, and Mathew Anderson; his best friend Ronnie Newby; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nadine Cole, and his sister, Mable Harris.

Though Robert's passing was sudden and his absence will be deeply felt, his life was filled with people who loved him, memories that will never fade, and a family legacy that will continue through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Rest peacefully, Bob. You will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
