Richard Charles Blalock Jr., 35 years old, passed away on November 26, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Richard Jr. was born May 13, 1990, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Theresa and Richard Blalock Sr.
Richard Jr. was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched everyone he met. He grew up in Waterloo, Iowa, where he developed a love for nature and found peace in the great outdoors. He loved walking on the trails and bike paths of the city, and he found tranquility in fishing—not for the catch, but for the connection to the world around him.
He enjoyed working with his hands, holding various jobs in building maintenance and for Packers Sanitation of Waterloo, Iowa. He worked faithfully as a personal caregiver to his partner's father, serving with humility and great devotion up until the day of his passing.
Richard Jr. was a born‑again Christian and an upstanding human being. He earned his GED and Culinary Arts Certification, delighting family and friends with his legendary baked chicken. Richard Jr. believed in never judging a book by its cover, and he lived by a code of respect; yet he was always willing to lend a helping hand if someone was in need.
Richard Jr. is survived by his life partner, Bryanté Fletcher; his beloved fur babies, Pepé Chulo La Belle and Diesel D. Chorizo; and siblings Angel Blalock‑Tidwell, Richinda (Shevin) Ford, Rikki (Phil) Thomas, LaQuoya Blalock, and David Britton.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews Arial Reed, Tatianna Awshanae Blalock, Lateace Blalock, Mackenzie Carder, Lil Rickey Blalock, Rikiya Blalock, Anjilo Allen, Daityn Britton, Alanna Britton, Amiyah Britton, Anabella Britton, Manuel Britton, Alayah Martinez, Landon Pritchard, Leveon Blalock; aunts Sherry Davenport, Lisa Davenport, Jill Britton; and numerous cousins and other family and friends.
Richard Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Theresa Britton and Richard Blalock Sr.; grandparents Annie R. Lewis and LeRoy Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Britton; aunts Carolyn Bailey, Cynthia Bush, and Diane Davenport; uncle Jack Britton; cousin Richard Britton; and great‑grandparents Richard and Missionary Lounette Blalock.
We find comfort in knowing that although he is no longer with us in body, his soul rests peacefully, his spirit remains eternal, and his radiant light continues to shine brightly in the hearts and memories of all who cherished, admired, and loved him most.
Rest in eternal peace, Richard. Fly high, my friend. You will be forever missed, endlessly loved, never forgotten, and always honored as a guiding presence in our lives. ~Amen
