Rene Louise LaPree, age 67, of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on April 13, 2026.
Rene was born on October 19, 1958, in Waverly, Iowa, but spent most of her childhood in Cedar Rapids. She dedicated many years of service working as a secretary for the State of Iowa, where she was known for her reliability and strong work ethic.
She was fiercely independent and had a passion for gardening, cooking, and music. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Meleah LaPree (Aaron Peterson) and Cody Fredericks (Megan Drake); and her grandchildren, Jude and Liam Peterson, and Avery Fredericks.
Rene was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Jane LaPree.
