Randall Edward "Randy" Russell, 64, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on May 19, 2026, at his residence.

Randy was born on April 8, 1962, in Broken Bow, Nebraska. He was a hardworking man who spent many years working as an iron worker, maintenance worker, and handyman. Over the years, he worked for Prairie Meadows and Eagle Iron, where he became known for his strong work ethic and ability to fix just about anything. If something was broken, Randy could usually find a way to repair it.

Randy loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed being outdoors whenever he could. He especially loved fishing, hunting, and appreciating nature. He was also active in the rock and gems community in Des Moines and enjoyed collecting unique items from the DAV store. Randy had a passion for hot rods and old cars and was talented at creating metal art, crafting pieces that reflected his creativity and skill.

Above all, Randy will be remembered for his generous spirit, his handy nature, and the countless ways he helped others throughout his life.

He is survived by his father, Lathan Russell; his daughters, Brandy Russell, Kayla Russell, and Erica (Austin) Watson; his siblings, Jackie, Jim, Renee, Jeff, Rodney, Rick, Raquel, Gwen, Christy, and Rebecca; and his grandchildren, Michael, Mary, Hunter, Parker, Maverik, Bailee, Lucas, Brooklin, Jasper, and Violet ; plus many nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his mothers, Karen (McDonald) Russell, and Frances Russell.

His memory will live on through the many lives he touched, the things he built, and the love he shared with family and friends.
