Randall Labus

Des Moines - Randall "Randy" L. Labus, 69, died January 12, 2026 after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 23, 1956 in Santa Barbara, California, the son of Eugene L. and Carolyn I. (Scanlon) Labus.

A private family viewing and cremation was arranged by Simplify Cremations & Funeral, Des Moines.

The family moved back to Des Moines, Iowa shortly after Randy's birth where he attended public schools. Randy enlisted in the United States Navy and was a Radioman stationed in Panama.

After his military service Randy returned to Des Moines and held a variety of jobs until he moved to Topsfield, Ma. After a brief period in Massachusetts, Randy moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and worked in the printing industry for many years before transitioning to the trucking trade.

Randy recently moved to Des Moines to spend more time with his daughter and grandchildren.

Randy will always be remembered for his rough exterior, but ever so soft heart. Randy was a loving father, grandfather and great grand papa, showering his loved ones with unconditional love. Their world will never be the same without him.

He was a fan of the Beatles which led him to learn to play the guitar. Additionally, Randy was an avid sports fan that followed the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, Boston Celtics, and Iowa Hawkeyes.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was predeceased by his sister, Shar Lynn. Surviving is his daughter, Amie Labus, grandchildren Sebastian and Vivian, his great-granddaughter Stormi, one brother Scott and his wife Carla of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
