Rachel N. Gilley

Rachel (Shearer) Gilley, 86, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away on April 8, 2025 at the Westview Care Center of Indianola after an extended illness.

Rachel was born on May 24, 1938, the daughter of Clearence Harold and Alpha Marie (Pelzer) Shearer in Griswold Iowa. She attended school in Greenfield and graduated in 1956. Rachel worked as an accounting assistant for 66 years, retiring in 2022. Rachel did not have children of her own which grew a deep love for her nieces and nephews, which she considered her own children. She will be missed for her sassy and spicy personality. She was a very outgoing and openly spoken individual who knew no stranger. She will be deeply missed. Her family finds great comfort in knowing she is back with her beloved Yorkshire, Bubba.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law: Eldean and Alvie Mings of Kansas; brother and sister-in-law: Dwayne and Joy Shearer in Red Oak; as well as 4 nephews.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister: Ellie Rice; 8 nieces and nephews; as well as many more great nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.

Cremation has taken place. Private burial will be held at Noble Center Cemetery in Griswold, Iowa
