Patricia "Pat" Ann Osborne (née Berry), 76, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
Pat was born on May 10, 1950, in Carlisle, Iowa, to William Robert Berry and Margaret Ellen Berry (née Jesse). She grew up in the Carlisle area, raised in a Catholic household, and later made Des Moines her home after having graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1968.
On February 25, 1972, Pat married the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Lee Osborne, in Des Moines. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and the simple joys of being together.
Pat worked for Principal Financial Group until retirement. Outside of work, she found happiness in spending time with her family and enjoying the things she loved. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Indiana Fever, enjoyed watching softball, and rarely missed an episode of The Daily Show, which she watched every night. Pat especially loved being outside and tending to her garden and watching squirrels. She took great care in growing and caring for her flowers, finding joy in watching them bloom and spending time outdoors.
Above all, Pat treasured her family. Her legacy will live on through her husband, Richard "Dick" Lee Osborne; her children, Alicia (Jack) Lewis and Richard "Rich" (Catina) Osborne; her grandchildren, Harlie Osborne, Cassie Barton, and Delaney Lewis; and her great-grandchildren, Naytion, Remington, Jacob and Kyla. She is also survived by her siblings, William "Hap" Berry, Nancy Loomis, and Robin (Dan) Buchman; her sister-in-law Carol (George) Reese; 10 cousins, 4 nieces, 5 nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; her beloved pets, Winnie and Maisie, and the semi-tolerable Buddy.
Pat will be remembered for her love of family, her faith, the many everyday moments she shared with the people she loved, for the love she gave so freely to those around her, her devotion to her family, and the everyday moments that reflected her uniquely feisty personality and sense of humor. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she created with her family and friends will remain with them always.
In keeping with Pat's love of family and fellowship, those who knew and loved her are invited to come together to celebrate her life and share memories of a woman who brought warmth, humor, and love to the people around her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #109, 6567 Bloomfield Road, Des Moines, Iowa 50320 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Pat had a deep love for animals and would have loved to see help sent for those who cannot help themselves. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or Animal Lifeline of Iowa.
