Patricia Lea Cardwell

Patricia Lea Cardwell, 92, passed away September 17, 2025 at EveryStep Hospice Kavanaugh House. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Immanuel United Methodist Church, 2900 49th Street in Des Moines, Iowa of which she was a member for over 65 years, with a celebration of life beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

Patricia was born September 5, 1933 the daughter of William and Ruth Vanderpool in Malvern, Iowa. She was a beloved social worker for over 35 years, where she loved helping family members and loved ones through difficult waiting times at the surgery center at Iowa Methodist Hospital. Patricia was an outstanding baker and all who knew her enjoyed her efforts. She loved ballroom dancing and was a weekly attendee of the Sunday Lake Robbins Ballroom for over 35 years. She was an amazing, compassionate, all giving person who is loved beyond measure and will be missed forever.

Patricia is survived by her children, David (Cathy) Cardwell, Brenda Eldridge and Molly (Britt) Warren; sister, Marlene Benedict; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Karl Cardwell and sisters, Eleanor Rubenking and JoAnne Chambers.
