Nancy Marie Knuteson

May 6, 1958 — October 17, 2024

Nancy Marie Knuteson earned her wings on October 17, 2024, and joined her lost loved ones after a long battle with heart disease and kidney failure. Nancy was born on May 6, 1958 to Stanley and Gladys Otto in Barneveld, Wisconsin.

Nancy attended Barneveld Elementary and in 1976 graduated from Barneveld High School. Nancy married Gene Weier and they welcomed a daughter, Michelle "Shelly" Marie Weier in 1980. However, the union didn't last, and in 1984 Nancy married James (Jim) Knuteson and in 1987, the couple had a son, Tyler James Knuteson.

Nancy and Jim raised their children in their home on the lake in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. In 2010, their grandson, Christian James Knuteson was born. In 2015, they welcomed their granddaughter, Brielle Kaelyn Knuteson. Nancy moved to New Auburn, Wisconsin where she helped raise Brielle from the time she was born and was especially close to her. In 2022 the family moved to Des Moines, Iowa.

Nancy and Jim owned and operated a tavern in Randolph, Wisconsin in the early 90s.  Nancy enjoyed listening to classic rock music and her favorites were Cher and Bob Seger. Nancy took great pride in being a Native American and was a member of the Sokaogon Chippewa Community of the Mole Lake Band. Nancy joked to the Beaver Dam Emergency Room that they were VIPs for frequent visits for her son Tyler the "Danger Boy". Nancy loved being a mom and a grandma more than anything and said her son and granddaughter made her life most worth living.

Nancy leaves behind her husband of 40 years, James Knuteson, son Tyler Knuteson, granddaughter Brielle Knuteson, all of Des Moines, IA, grandson Christian Knuteson of Whitewater, WI, sister Darlene Clotier of Sun Prairie WI, sister Janis Stephens of Richland Center, WI and cousins, nieces and nephews. Nancy is preceded in death by her daughter Shelly Weier Aguilar, father Stanley Otto, mother Gladys Otto, brothers Stanley Otto and Karl Otto, and brother-in-law Gary Clotier.

Nancy's last message to family and friends "Life is good, but now I'll be watching over you."
