Micky Arlo Weber

Oct 28, 1958 — Jul 12, 2026

Micky Arlo Weber, 67, passed away on July 12, 2026, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City, IA.

Born in South Bend, IN, on October 28, 1958, Micky was named after baseball legend Mickey Mantle, though he never developed much interest in baseball. Instead, he found his passion in amateur radio. Known by his call sign, N0HAN, Micky spent countless hours connecting with fellow operators across the country and around the world. His ham radios and towering antennas became something of a landmark-much to the playful dismay of a few neighbors-but to Micky, they were gateways to lifelong friendships and conversations that spanned the globe.

Micky proudly served his country, first in the United States Army and later in the United States Air Force, where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He carried service values with him throughout his life, proud to have worn the uniforms.

Those who knew him knew he had a heart of gold. He never hesitated to lend a hand, offer advice, or help someone through a difficult time. His generosity, kindness, and willingness to help others made a lasting mark in the lives of countless people.

When he wasn't on the radio, Micky enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He adored his cats, Charlotte and Jake from State Farm, could often be found settled into his favorite recliner watching John Wayne movies, and loved listening to The Moody Blues.

Micky was fortunate to be surrounded by remarkable caregivers in his later years. His home nurse, Emily, faithfully cared for him for nearly nine years. Despite Micky's lovingly sarcastic nickname for her-"Nursezilla"-their relationship was built on trust, compassion, and genuine affection. He was also grateful for his care companion and friend, Ande, who spent countless hours cooking, sharing stories, trading jokes, and simply enjoying life's conversations with him.

Above all, Micky loved his family. He is survived by his daughters, Adina Ziegler of Belle Plaine, IA, and Rachel Weber of Ankeny, IA; his grandchildren, Jeramie, Justyn DeBoe, MJ (Christian), Joren, and Jens; his great-granddaughter, Emmy; and many extended family members and dear friends. He is also survived by his daughter, Emilee of St. Cloud, MN.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Harriet Hare; his father, Larry Weber; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Though he was named after one of baseball's greatest legends, Micky built a legacy all his own through his service to his country, the friendships he forged as N0HAN, the kindness he showed to others, and the love he had for his family. Whether you knew him as Dad, Grandpa, friend, veteran, or the familiar voice on the other end of the radio, he will be deeply missed.

Though his station is now silent, his signal will echo in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. 73, N0HAN. Silent Key.

A celebration of Micky's life will be held at a later date. Until then, the family invites you to honor his memory by performing a simple act of kindness-the kind of gesture Micky so often extended to others.
