Michael Wolford

April 24, 1948 — May 17, 2025

Michael David Wolford :born April 24,1948:  Peggy Beth Fovargue Wolford: (wife)Son: Benjamin Michael Wolford: (wife Amy): Daughter Christine Lynn Wolford.

Mike and I met for the first time in September 1972. I was coming home for the weekend from college. My parents and brother invited Mike for dinner. I'm happy  to say that's when it started! December 1972 Mike asked my parents for my hand in marriage!  He gave me a ring for Christmas!  On my way back to college the song by the Carpenters "I'm on top of the world "was playing that said it all, six months later June 30, 1973 we were married. Mike became my forever love of my life! Over the next 7 years we were blessed with two children Benjamin Michael who was born July 12th 1975, and Christine Lynn , January 31st 1979.

We moved a lot! Some were  great some  not so great! We supported Each other's extra curricular jobs besides teaching. Mike coached  varsity football as well as girls varsity basketball. He also coached numerous other sports but the first two I mentioned were also played by our two children so Mike got to coach his son and his daughter. He was so proud of them and he loved them both very much. I remember a silly story about both of them! Mike would tell them a play or what to do and what not to do out on the field or the court, the two of them would say "sure dad", go back in and call or do the complete opposite!  Lucky  for them they won!!  Their dad used to come home and say what am I to do?, and then we'd laugh. Mike was also a grandfather to Wayde, Carter, Grace, Mallorie, Tyler, and Alexa. Our 52 years of marriage has left me blessed!!

Now, in our own ways, we are saying our goodbyes;

Ben: he was the man I called "Pop", my "Father", My "Best Friend",my "Hero".

Christine:  He was an amazing dad, my other half of the book ends, my father, coach, teacher, grandpa, and most importantly, my mom's great love. I'll love you forever.

Peggy: I would like to close with the lyrics from the song "Im jealous of the Angels" by Katherine Jenkins. Which I feel covers it all::

I didn't know today would be our last, or that I'd have to say goodbye to you so fast. I'm so numb. I don't feel anymore. Praying that you would walk right through our door. And tell me I was only dreaming, you're not really gone as long as I'm believing. Your love lives inside of me and I will hold on tight ! It's not my place to question. Only God knows why! I'm just jealous of the angels around the throne tonight!  You always made my troubles feel so small. And you were always there to catch me when I'd fall , in  a world where heroes come and go, well God just took the only one I know, so I'll hold on as close as I can longing for the day when I see your face again, but until then , They'll be another Angel around the throne tonight!

Thank you for loving me unconditionally, until we are eternally together again!  Love you forever Peggy!

The last part is from Mike: He told to me back in March when he was in the hospital for the first time to write this down:  to my children and my grandchildren : 1.  Ephesians 2 vers 8,9,and 10:  For by  grace, you are saved through faith in the world and not of yourselves. 9: Not of works that any man should boast. 10: For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus, which God ordained. 2.  II Timothy: 4:7. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.

I love you all very very much!! Take care of your mom/Grama, she will need you! Dad, Grampa!and always remember. "O H I O" go bucks!

If you wish we will accept condolences and gifts sent to :: Peggy Wolford 1235 University Ave, Apt:112, Waukee Iowa 50263  Thank You!! The family of Mike Wolford.

Living Cousins: Steve Hosaflook, Peggy Hosaflook-York, Pam (Hosaflook) Johnson, Kim (Hosaflook) Weber, Shelly (Hosaflook) Burgeron, Leigh (Hosaflook) Whetzel, Alan Hosaflook, Roy Miller and Maxine Miller

Mike graduated from Howland High School in 1964 and from Cedarville College in 1968.

A favorite story of mine about Mike was when he was first asked to speak at Cortland Trinity Baptist Church by his dad, Rev. Virgil Wolford. Mike got up and said, "Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Theodore Roosevelt were all great men who said great things, but they're all dead. Well, I have to tell you, I'm not feeling too good myself right now!" It was Mike's first time speaking in the pulpit at his home church and the nerves were greatly present. But, as always, he did a great job!  Steve

A favorite story of mine about Mike is when our family went camping in West Virginia at our Aunt's cabin in the woods. Mike was on summer vacation from college and he joined us. One day Mike and I went for a walk up this huge mountain. (I was about 8 years old at the time, so it was huge for me.) When we reached the peak, Mike lifted me up on his shoulders and told me to reach up so I could touch the clouds. It was awesome! He then carried me on his shoulders laughing the whole way down. I loved it! A precious memory I will never forget. Mike was a great guy, he was so funny, always laughing and singing goofy songs. I always looked forward to him coming home from college to visit us. He will be greatly missed.      Peggy Hosaflook-York
