Michael Eugene Hilgenberg

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Eugene Hilgenberg, who departed this life on November 18, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on November 3, 1951, in Jefferson, Iowa, Michael was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He called Maxwell, Iowa, his home and devoted his life to serving his community as a firefighter with the Cambridge Fire Department.He was a cherished member of his family, leaving behind his devoted wife, Kim Hilgenberg, who stood by him through life's many journeys. He also leaves his siblings Lenny Hilgenberg, Kay Ward, David Hilgenberg, Karla Raub, Lisa Thoren, Steve Pierce, Janice Larson, and Shawn Young. Michael is preceded in death by his brother, Tom Hilgenberg.Michael's passion for life was evident in everything he did. He took great joy in traveling with his RV and had a special affinity for attending car shows. Above all, his greatest treasure was his family-his children, Nick Hilgenberg and Tawnia Leslie, his grandchildren, Samantha (David) Eastman, Lucas Hilgenberg, Clayton Leslie, Gracie Leslie, Ashlyn Leslie, and Lillian Leslie, as well as his great-grandchildren, Genevieve and Clarence Eastman. To honor Michael's incredible life and legacy, cremation will take place.
