With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of the guiding light of our family, Michael Kevin Boettger, who passed away suddenly on August 5, 2026, at age 69. He was the bedrock of our family, born on August 31, 1956 in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from East High School. He loved playing Call of Duty on his Xbox and gaming, experimenting with cooking, listening to music, singing karaoke with us and fishing, but most of all, he loved his family. He was a loving, caring husband to his surviving wife of 56 years and soulmate, Sarah Boettger, who loved him more than life itself. He was her best friend, her rock, her world and she will miss his beautiful smile every minute of every day.
Surviving are his 4 children, daughter, Carmen Davis, her spouse Dave Davis and their 5 children, Ryan, Cole, Ashley, Blake and Miranda; daughter, Stephanie Brookhart, her spouse, Greg Brookhart, and their 5 children, Taylor, Samantha, Typhanie, Rowan and Mia; son, Jefferson Boettger, his spouse, Rachel Boettger, and their 6 children, Alicia, Madison, Sophia, Scarlet, Jake and William; and son, Clinton Boettger, his spouse, Robin Boettger, and their 3 children, Cecelia, Abigail and Theodore. Mike has 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, and surviving brother, Galen Boettger. He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Boettger; sisters, Chrystal Borys, Cecelia "Marie" Sobbe and Julianna Billings. Surviving nephew Abraham Boettger and preceding him, nephews, Gabriel Boettger and Joshua Billings. Preceded in death by his mother, Hallie Bliss and father, Patrick Boettger.
Mike had a larger than life energy about him that drew everyone in that met him. He was always there for anyone that needed him and was the guy you'd call anytime you had a problem. He loved being surrounded by his family. He was the patriarch of our entire family, all generations and his sudden departure has left a void in our lives that can never be filled, but his love will remain our guiding force forever. You may be gone, but you will live on forever in our hearts.
