Michael Lee Bickle

Michael Lee Bickle, age 63, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on June 24, 2026.

Michael was born on July 24, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Harold and JoAn (Wilson) Bickle. He was raised in Des Moines and spent much of his life in the community he called home. Michael worked for many years as a truck driver, a profession that suited his independent spirit and strong work ethic.

On August 18, 1984, Michael married the love of his life, Tammy Awkerman, in Des Moines. Together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and countless memories.

Michael was a firearms enthusiast who loved hunting. He also had a passion for motorcycles and go-kart racing, always enjoying the thrill of speed and adventure. He was a natural tinkerer who could often be found working on projects, fixing things, or finding creative solutions to everyday problems. His family affectionately described him as "cheap," though Michael preferred to think of it as discovering new and inventive ways to make life more cost-efficient.

Known for being ornery, fun-loving, and quick with a joke, Michael had an amazing sense of humor that could brighten any room. He enjoyed making others laugh and never missed an opportunity to share a story, tease a friend, or find humor in life's challenges. His wit, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of more than 41 years, Tammy Bickle; his son, Michael (Kayla) Bickle; his daughter, Bambi (Tyler) Fleming; and his cherished grandson, Gavin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and JoAn Bickle.

Michael's memory will live on through the family and friends who loved him and through the countless stories, laughter, and lessons he leaves behind.
