Mellisa Marie (Mills) Burns, 44, passed away on March 4th 2025, in Johnston, Iowa. She was born on September 19th 1980, in West Branch, Michigan.
Mellisa was a dedicated and hardworking individual who built a career as a general manager of a Racetrac gas station in Naples, Florida. Her strong work ethic and leadership were evident in everything she did. Beyond her professional life, she found joy in cooking for her family, spending time outdoors, fishing, four wheeling, enjoying nature, and she loved playing games with her loved ones.
She was deeply loved and cherished by her husband Jesse Burns, her son Colton Burns and her daughter Jada Mills.
She also leaves behind her mother Brenda Hutchinson, her father Marvin Mills and stepmother Lydia Gotreau, her brother Matt Mills and sister in law Danica Rupina, and her nephews Dylan Wildfong and Dominic Mills. Mellisa was also loved by her parents in law David and Ellen Burns, special aunt and uncle Don and Marty Burgess, siblings in law and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. And her grandmother Betty Hutchinson.
Mellisa was known for being caring, loving, fun, adventurous and full of laughter. She was a devoted wife and mother who poured her heart into caring for those she loved. Her presence brought warmth to every gathering, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. May the memories of Mellisa bring comfort to those who loved her. She will be forever loved and missed. Rest in Peace.
