Maureen Ruane passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on March 6, 1966, in Malden, Massachusetts, Maureen was the daughter of Carmen "Connie" Idalia De Jesus and Robert Patrick Ruane. She was lovingly raised by her mother and stepfather, Harry Gene Volkart, who came into her life when she was just three years old.
Maureen graduated from Mansfield High School in 1984 and proudly served in the United States Navy as a Personnelman aboard the USS Canopus from 1985 to 1988, later continuing her service as a reservist. It was during her time in the Navy that she met Troy Diesburg. They married in 1988 and had two children, Sonny and Amber Diesburg. The two later divorced.
Early in her career, Maureen worked as an office manager in the construction industry. She later earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management from Kaplan University in 2012. Over the years, she held a variety of roles in office and project management, dealership accounting, and car dealership operations.
Maureen had a deep love for cooking and baking, always eager to feed family and friends. She enjoyed visiting with loved ones, playing board and mobile games, and took particular pride in serving as a Floyd County Veterans Affairs Commissioner-work that meant a great deal to her until her health no longer allowed her to continue.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Amber Diesburg; the father of her children, Troy Diesburg; her parents Connie and Harry Volkart, and Robert Ruane; her sister Kathy Silva, and her significant other, Ronny Huffman.
Maureen is survived by her son, Sonny Diesburg; her sister, Colleen Thake; her brother, Chris Volkart; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
