Mathew Michael Peterson

Mathew Michael Peterson, age 56, passed away on October 23, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa, where he lived most of his life. He was born on July 27, 1969, in Des Moines, the son of Michael J Peterson and Deborah K (Debbie) Christensen.

Growing up, he loved playing baseball, soccer, tennis, basketball and golf with his grandfather "Pete". He loved camping, fishing and being in the sun and around all things water. Mathew had eclectic musical tastes, loving rock music, the oldies and country music... nearly everything he heard on the radio. Even playing around on the guitar. Mathew's family and close friends meant everything to him. He never seemed to meet a stranger and was liked by all who knew him.

Mathew is survived by his Grandfather: Lorrel ("Pete") Peterson in Alabama; His sisters: Dawn Schaefer of Orlando FL and Jasmine Coffin of Des Moines; Aunt and Uncles: Sherry (Marlin) Graham of Des Moines; Steve (Marie) Christensen in Tucson AZ; Jackie Christensen of Phoenix, AZ; Mark (Carol) Peterson in Alabama; Cousins: Christopher (Destiny) of Des Moines; Jamie (Christina) Parker of Pleasant Hill; Joseph (Dominique) Parker of Des Moines; Jessie (Julie) Parker of Clive; Joe Peterson of Des Moines; Amy Conner (Peterson) of Winterset, IA; along with many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

Mathew was preceded in death by his Mother Deborah (Debbie) Grover; Grandmother Norma Jean Peterson; Grandparents: Carroll W Christensen, Leona Mae Niel; Uncle: Larry Christensen; His cousins' Jeremy Parker Sr, wife Lesa Parker and their son Jeremy Parker Jr.

Mathew M Peterson has been cremated, and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made in his honor to Unity Point/Iowa Methodist Medical Center Critical Care Unit.
