Maryann Overton

Maryann Overton, 76, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at MercyOne Des Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. A visitation will be 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., Friday, March 28, 2025 at Simplify Cremations & Funerals in Des Moines, IA. Maryann was born on November 10, 1948, in Des Moines to Ronald and Vera (Blackford) Riley. She graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1966 and later earned her CNA certification from Des Moines Area Community College. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to caring for others while working at various nursing homes.

Maryann shared over 50 loving years of marriage with Les Overton, and together they were blessed with three wonderful children. She cherished family time, especially playing cards and creating lasting memories with loved ones. A passionate collector, she adored china dolls and Betty Boop memorabilia. However, her greatest joy in life was always her family. She will be truly missed by all.

She is survived by three children, Karl (Teena Shineflew) Overton of West Des Moines, IA, Kasey (Debbie Lakers-Overton) Overton of Des Moines, IA, Lisa (Joseph) Tresten of Winterset, IA, seven grandchildren; Derek (Kelsey) Overton, Megan (David) Bouska, Zachary (Kylie Ubben) Overton, Leeann Overton, Courtney Overton, Teri (Keeyon) Van Weelden, Sharon (John) Lebron, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Les Overton, parents, one brother, Ronald Riley Jr., and one sister, Donna.
