Marty Lonn Larson

Marty Lonn Larson (Muffy Rosenberg), 62, of Des Moines, IA passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026 of heart failure at his apartment.

Marty was born October 17, 1963 in Oakland, NE to William R. (Bill) and Virginia (Ebers) Larson. During his childhood and adolescent years, he lived on a farm outside of Oakland and later moved into town.

He was involved in 4-H, Boy Scouts, band, chorus, drama and was the accompanist for many groups and individuals. He was a member of the Oakland First United Methodist Church and graduated from Oakland-Craig High School in 1982.

He attended Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE for a while and then went to Cosmetology School and lived and worked in Omaha, NE at various hair salons with Hair Care Xtras being the latest and even had his own salon for a short while.

He later moved to Des Moines, IA where he worked at many businesses including The Blazing Saddle, Zombie Burger, and most recently The Garden where he hosted trivia night, open mic and hosted/produced many shows and events.

Marty (Muffy) received endless titles which included Miss Max 1, Miss Nebraska USofA, Miss Nebraska America, First Miss Iowa, Miss Gay Iowa USofA Classic, Miss Iowa USofA at Large, Grand Duchess of Iowa, Empress 20 and 22 of the Imperial Court of All Iowa and his proudest achievement was that he started the Guardian Angel Scholarship Fund through the Court while Empress.

Survivors include sister Cindy (Dale) Tranmer, brother Kirby (Gay) Larson, niece Cathy (Cory) Kolm (all of Fremont, NE), great-niece Lizzy Tranmer (Toledo, IA), great-nephews, Caden, Cooper and Cason Kolm (Fremont, NE), great-great-niece Carolina Tranmer (Toledo, IA) and 92 year old maternal uncle Ralph (Shirley) Ebers (Lincoln, NE).

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Raymond and Maude Larson, maternal grandparents Herman and Meta Ebers, parents William R. (Bill) and Virginia (Ebers) Larson and nephew Derek Tranmer.

Marty (Muffy) will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026 from 2:00-5:00 PM at the home of his sister Cindy at 750 Heatherwood Street, Fremont, NE. His (her) family would love for you to join us in sharing memories, food and fellowship.

Private burial will take place at a later date at Oakland Cemetery, Oakland, NE.
