Mark E. Tasler, a remarkable brother, uncle, and cherished member of the Jefferson community, peacefully passed away on June 14, 2023, at Unity Point - Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

He was born on January 5, 1957, in Jefferson, Iowa, to the late Walter and Arletta (Royce) Tasler.

Mark's vibrant life was marked by his unwavering kindness, love for his family, and his deep connection to nature. He attended and graduated from Jefferson High School, where he developed lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for a future filled with compassion and generosity.

As a master gardener, Mark found solace and joy in tending to his beloved flowers, with roses holding a special place in his heart. His green thumb and dedication transformed his garden into a colorful oasis, captivating all who visited. Mark's passion for gardening mirrored his nurturing spirit, as he would often share the fruits of his labor with loved ones and neighbors.

Mark was renowned for his selflessness and his genuine desire to help others. Whether it was a lending hand, an attentive ear, or a warm smile, he was always there for those in need. His acts of kindness knew no bounds, and his impact reached far and wide.  He had a special gift for making everyone he met feel valued and cherished, and his presence illuminated the lives of countless individuals.

Family held a special place in Mark's heart, and he cherished the moments spent with his nieces and nephews. His boundless love and devotion knew no bounds, and he was an irreplaceable figure in their lives. Mark's magnetic personality ensured he never knew a stranger, effortlessly forging connections and leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those he encountered.

Mark's cherished companion and "little brother," Edd Dogg, brought immeasurable joy and companionship to his life.

Mark's love for cooking was as deep as his love for others. His culinary skills were admired by all who had the pleasure of savoring his creations. He shared his culinary talents while working at Truck Haven and Uptown Cafe in Jefferson.

Mark's legacy as a beacon of love, compassion, and generosity will endure in the hearts of those he touched, including his seven siblings, Michelle (Keith) Malott of Stuart, Richard (Deatra) of Madrid, Ryan of Jefferson, Kevin of Jefferson, Maria of Glidden, Leann (the late Cris) Denman of Las Vegas and Nicole (Paul) Genco of Jefferson; nieces and nephews, Melissa Coover and her children Rylan, Alex and Zaccary, Jeremy Tasler and his children, Katelyn and Alanna, Garrett Tasler, Stella Tasler, Christi, Johnny, Whitney and Allyn, Doug and Darrin Gordon, Daniel and Cory Tasler and Kaci Page.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Arletta Tasler; maternal grandmother, Stella Royce; paternal grandparents, Frank and Margrett Tasler and brother-in-law, Cris Denman.
