Mark Loren Cowles was born on January 22 1963 to Linda and Frances "Ed" Cowles of Des Moines. He grew up with his 5 siblings; Brothers, C.C., Ed, Steve, Tom, and John as well as his sister Missy. Mark was a lifelong music lover and a musician at heart. He would often be found playing his guitar and was well known for his guitar skills. He loved listening to classic rock and roll like Pink Floyd, Bob Seger, Pat Benatar and Joan Jett to name a few of his favorites. He loved going to concerts whenever possible. He prided himself on his extensive collection of vinyl records and music memorabilia. He also had an extensive collection of Pepsi memorabilia and was affectionately known as the Pepsi guy, or Uncle Pepsi. Mark was also an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and would cheer on his team at every opportunity. His positive outlook on life and sense of humor left a deep mark on any and all who knew him.

Mark married his first wife Debbie (Richardson) in 1992, and they had 3 children together Joseph, Jhana, and Erica.

Mark is survived in death by his daughters, Jhana and Erica (Logan Muchler); and grandsons Joshua and Charlie; granddaughters Chloe and Jocelyn; his brothers and sister; many nieces and nephews; and a legion of friends and family, near and far.

Mark was preceded in death by his son Joseph, his parents Linda and Ed, and his second wife Angie.

Mark passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026 surrounded by family that will love and miss him dearly. A celebration of life will be planned by his family at a later date.
