It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Rosalva Afanador, who peacefully left us on March 30, 2025, at the age of 55, surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born on January 17, 1970, in Huascato, Jalisco, In 2021, Rosalva resided in Des Moines, Iowa to be closer to her children. Rosalva faced life's challenges with unparalleled grace, strength, and resilience. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, teaching her family the enduring power of perseverance, kindness, and love. Rosalva was very passionate about her work and spent most of her time with family. She loved to cook and will always invite her children over for home cooked meals.
Rosalva is survived by her devoted partner, Alfonso Vasquez; her beloved children, Jose Rodriguez, Marco Rodriguez, Adolfo Rodriguez, Esequiel Rodriguez, and Vanessa Rodriguez; her cherished grandchildren, Lily Rodriguez, Ayden Rodriguez, Eliana Ramirez, and Adriel Rodriguez; her 16 brothers and sisters and a close-knit community of friends who were touched by her unwavering spirit. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Her legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
