Lorraine Marie Martorano

Feb 29, 1948 — Jul 13, 2026

Lorraine Marie Martorano, 78, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on February 29, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to Rudolph and Darlene Korosec, Lorraine lived a life defined by love, laughter, and caring for others.

She was a devoted mother to her son, Vincent, her daughter, Kimberly, and her proudest title in recent years was Grandma to her beloved granddaughter, Mayda. Nothing brought her more happiness than watching Mayda grow and showering her with endless love.

Lorraine's greatest joy in life was caring for children. For many years, she lovingly welcomed little ones into her home through her in-home daycare, nurturing them with patience, kindness, and affection until they were ready for preschool. After retiring from her career as an Accounts Payable Manager, she could have chosen a quieter life, but her heart had other plans. She became a nanny, continuing to do what she loved most, pouring her love into children and becoming a treasured part of the families she served.

Lorraine had a larger-than-life personality. She was a bit of a rebel, the life of every party, and someone who never met a stranger. Her infectious laugh, quick wit, and adventurous spirit made every gathering more fun simply because she was there. She also had an incredible talent for finding the perfect gift. Whether for a birthday, holiday, or just because, Lorraine delighted in making others feel special through thoughtful, generous gestures that always seemed perfectly chosen.

More than anything, Lorraine will be remembered for the love she gave so freely. She devoted her life to caring for children, celebrating the people she loved, and creating joyful memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Vincent; her daughter, Kimberly; her granddaughter, Mayda; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever miss her warmth, humor, generosity, and unwavering love.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that Lorraine's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. Her love, laughter, and caring spirit will never be forgotten.
