Linda Louise Hehmann

Linda Louise O'Neal Hehmann, 79, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family.

Linda was born on March 30, 1946, in Greencastle, Indiana, the loving daughter of Bedford Henry and Martha Louise O'Neal.

Linda was predeceased by her father and mother; daughter, Tina Scheffers and son-in-law, Jeff Scheffers; brothers, Phil and Dan O'Neal; sister-in-law, Deb O'Neal; and her grandson, Brandon Mitchell, as well as many other loved ones.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandee Gallegos (Ricardo), and Terra Saylor (Greg); 10 grandchildren: Sarah Mitchell (Matt), Kaycee Mitchell, Lindsee Mitchell, Justin Scheffers, Garett Mitchell, Tyler Scheffers (Jessica), Samantha Dowd (Nathan), Jonathan Scheffers, and Matthew Saylor (Kelsey); as well as 33 great-grandchildren.

Linda was a devoted Nazarene, and maintained her faith and love of God. She had a compassionate and giving heart. She loved her family, loved to play games, travel, and was a racecar driver in her younger years. She was a prankster to her loved ones.

Her hobbies included coloring, spending time with family, napping, and she loved reading. She was an observer of people and enjoyed going to State Fairs. She was a socialite and a servant of God, spending many years working in different areas of the church as well as driving the church van, so others could get to church.

Linda was a devoted Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Friend who continues to be loved by many.
