Linda B Biddle, 81, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on May 16, 2026 at Wesley On Grand Healthcare Center. She was born to parents Wilbur R. and Florence M. (Davis) Gillette in Canandaigua, New York.
She graduated from Bloomfield Community School (New York) in 1962. She relocated to Des Moines with her family following graduation.
Linda worked at Kmart in the early 70's, Iowa Plumbing Supply and as a Fraud Investigator for the many years that followed. She retired from The Members Group in 2006. She enjoyed her co-workers very much (you know who you are!!) and trying new foods. Her favorite however was always pizza!
She was very proud to be from "upstate" New York and to be a niece of William Gillette, dramatist and playwright who portrayed Sherlock Holmes in the theater and who built the Gillette Castle in Hadlyme CT. She loved horses, having had one as a kid and all of the time she spent with her Halm cousins.
Her high school class dubbed her the girl with the "beautiful smile". Even through the stroke years she still continued to smile! She was a very strong and beautiful person and mother who didn't deserve what she got!
Linda met Max M Biddle in 1962. They were married in 1966 in Des Moines Iowa. Together they raised one child, Candace.
Linda is survived by her daughter Candace Biddle, two brothers Don (Peggy) Gillette of Encinitas CA and Bill Gillette of Denver CO along with several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much, Pat Fresquez (sister in law) and Ray (Linda) Biddle (brother in law).
She was preceded in death by her husband Max, sister Norma Jean and parents Wilbur and Florence.
A special thank you to Erika Schmidt, Stacy Swank, Kari Perry, Karen Kubura, Markihda Armisais, Brittany and Brittany, Sherry, Mackenzie, Emma (dietary), Shonna and many others at Urbandale Health Center and Wesley On Grand for making Linda's world special when it wasn't. You are true angels on earth and what you do means everything to me and the people you care for! We cannot thank you enough and you deserve to be recognized for doing a job that most people wouldn't do! I love you all and so did she!
