Lerrine May Virden was born October 7, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lester and Effie Statler. She had 3 sisters and 1 brother. As a teenager, Lerrine attended Abraham Lincoln High School. She liked to dance, ice-skate and spend time with her friends. She lived on the Southside of Des Moines for the majority of her life, with the exception of a few months in Florida.
Lerrine met Norman Charles Virden (Norm) and they were married on October 8, 1954, at Indianola Heights Christian Church. Lerrine and Norman raised four daughters and one son. Their legacy continues with their eleven grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren.
Glad Tidings Assembly of God was Lerrine's church home, where she enjoyed worshiping Jesus with family and friends.
Lerrine's thoughts and heart were always devoted to and centered on her family. She could be counted on to attend her children's, grandchildren's and great grandchildren's dance recitals, sports events, plays, band concerts, shows or speeches. She attempted to be there and support them whenever possible. Lerrine loved Holidays and most importantly, celebrating all of them with her family. There were many, many Christmas gatherings at Norm and Lerrine's that their children and grandchildren looked forward to. These memories will always be cherished. Lerrine regularly cooked great meals for these events, which included her specialty, macaroni and cheese.
