Leah Jane Cummings

Leah Jane Cummings, 66, passed away on February 28, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 pm Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Faith Independence Assembly of God, 6001 SW 14th Street in Des Moines.

Janie was born September 25, 1958 the daughter of William and Katherine (VanHook) Harris and lived the majority of her life on the South Side of Des Moines. In 1977 she joined the US Army. Through her service connection she met Charlie Cummings and they were married in 1982. In 1983 they welcomed their daughter, Sarah. The pair split in 1985. Jamie loved being a mother and often took Sarah to do fun activities. She loved spending time with family and spoiling her grandchildren, Donovan and Jordan. Janie enjoyed listening to music, arcades, going to the casino, shopping, fishing, bowling, driving around Easter Lake and going on family trips. Her favorite place to visit was Branson, Missouri.

Janie is survived by her daughter, Sarah Cummings and grandchildren, Donovan and Jordan. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Stephen.
