Laurie Jean Jilek

Laurie Jean Jilek (February 27 th 1961-May 23 rd 2024) 63 of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully on May 23 rd , 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara (Appelhons) and Charles Jilek. She is survived by her sister Patricia Jones of Des Moines, Her three sons, Charles Jilek, Steven Jilek, and Thomas Jilek all of Des Moines, Iowa and her daughter Cheyenne Jilek of Mississippi. She also had three grandchildren Amelia, Oliver and Pyper whom she loved and adored. She also has several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Laurie grew up in West Des Moines where she attended Sacred Heart and then Valley High School. Laurie had many jobs working in the service industry. She loved tending bar at the Plantation and various other bars over the years. You could always find her serving up some of the best BBQ at the Old West BBQ at the Iowa State Fair. She later spent many years as the manager for Inner Dimensions, a metaphysical store and spent years volunteering for the Iowa Psychic Fair. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date.
