Larry Duane Meggers

Larry Duane Meggers, 68, of Norwalk, Iowa, passed away on March 23, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Larry was born on December 30, 1957, in Carroll, Iowa, to Duane and Luetta (Johnson) Meggers. He grew up in Iowa and graduated high school from Ar-We-Va, Westside, Iowa in 1976. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Drake University, building a successful career as a Systems Analyst with Wells Fargo, where he dedicated over 30 years of service.

On August 12, 2018, Larry married the love of his life, Lili Castano. Larry's greatest joy came from being with his loved ones, especially his wife and her children, whom he embraced wholeheartedly. Larry had a passion for cooking, traveling, and spending time on the golf course. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed football and basketball and was a devoted Iowa State Cyclone fan.

He is survived by his wife, Lili Castaño Meggers; his siblings, David Lee (Jeanette) Meggers and Dennis Dean (Sue) Meggers; and his stepchildren, Antonio Velez Castaño, Cristina Teresa Velez Castaño, Andrea Velez Castaño, Angie Karina loaiza Castaño; and nieces and nephews Kristina (Nathan) Paul, Philip (Rebecca) Meggers, Emily (Jeffery) Gearig, Casey (Briana) Meggers, Marcia (Kyle) Forsyth. He is also remembered by many great nieces and nephews, extended family members and loved ones whose lives he touched.

Visitation and memorial will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 3900 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines, IA 50265. Visitation will be Monday, April 6th from 5-7p.m. The memorial service will be Tuesday, April 7th at 10:00 a.m. A private interment will take place at Westside Cemetery at a later time. Memorials will be directed to the family or the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, West Des Moines or Gideon International.
