Khom Van Trinh

Khom Van Trinh, 67, peacefully passed away Tuesday night, April 4, 2023.

Khom was born on December 31, 1955 in Vietnam. He migrated to the United States in 1988 with his wife, Vinh, and their 4 kids. They then had their youngest son.

Khom built his life and career in the restaurant industry where he worked hard for countless hours at China Chef to provide for his family, he was the head chef for 25 years. Aside from his job, he loved spending time on the water and enjoy his favorite hobby, fishing. Before cooking, he spent his younger years as a boat captain in Phu Quoc, Vietnam.

After retirement, he enjoyed spending quality time with his grandkids, taking walks and going on fast food runs. He had a passion for the sport of fishing and took to the water any chance he got. He also found interest in his iPad. You'd walk into the room and hear his videos playing. The care he had for people never went unnoticed.

Khom is survived by his wife, Vinh Nguyen; daughters, My and Tiffani Trinh; sons, Duc, Phuc, and Dat Trinh; daughters-in-law, Kieu Ho, and Jan Jan Trinh; son-in-law, Tan Tran; and grandchildren, An, Cameron, Kaila, Haylee, Jordan, Emylee, Anna, Lucky, Maxson, Audrina, Anne, Kason, Dax, Van, Auden, and Anson.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2023 at Simplify Cremations and Funerals (4821 SW 9th St. Des Moines, Iowa). Funeral service will be held at 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Simplify Cremations and Funerals. Cremation will follow the service at the Caldwell Parrish Crematory (8201 Hickman Rd. Urbandale, Iowa).
