Kelly Ann (Griffin) Sholley, 60, passed away on July 8, 2026, following a catastrophic stroke at Mercy Hospital. She was born January 28, 1966, to Lawrence Michael "Mickey" Griffin and Betty Carol (Rhiner) Griffin.
Kelly graduated from Hoover High School in 1984, where she played the clarinet. She was, in every sense of the phrase, a local celebrity. As one of the original three Waveland girls, alongside her lifelong friends Stephanie Hendrickson and Andrea "Sam" Orr, Kelly earned a lasting place in her community, with each of the three women honored by their own mural on the walls of the Waveland Cafe.
Kelly never met a stranger. Her laughter and her personality were always bigger than any room she walked into, and she had a gift for making the people around her feel seen and loved. More than anything, her three daughters, her grandchildren, and her great-grandson were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent surrounded by family and friends.
Kelly is survived by her mother, Betty Miles; her sister, Tracey (Kevin) Clark, and her daughters, Kassandra Larsen, Erica Sholley, and Lyndsey (Pulley), along with future son in law Mike Ferguson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kylie Coles (John Groen III), Andrew "Drew" Coles, Stella and Aurora Greening, Brooklyn and Kaylin Madewell, Jazzlyn Sholley, and Jaxson and Scarlett, as well as her great grandson, John "JJ" Groen IV. She was looking forward to the arrival of her next great grandchild, who Kelly insisted with full confidence would be a girl, and had already chosen the name Ireland Rose. She leaves behind a large extended family and countless friends whose lives she touched.
Kelly was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence "Mickey" Griffin, and her stepfather, Jerry "Pops" Miles.
